John A. Murrell, DDS, FACP

Born and reared in the Los Angeles area, Dr. John Murrell received his DDS degree in 1980 from the University of Southern California.  He then completed a one-year general practice residency at the Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital in 1981.  Following this training, he then completed his two-year Prosthodontic specialty residency in 1983 at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine.  Research areas there focused on new dental ceramics.  After additional completion of a two-year Masters Degree in 1985 at the University of Southern California, Dr. Murrell has been engaged in full-time private prosthodontic practice; first in Los Angeles until 1995, and since then in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In 1996, Dr. Murrell achieved his Board-certified specialty status from the American Board of Prosthodontics.  He has taught prosthodontics and dental practice business principles at both the pre-doctoral and post-graduate levels at the University of Southern California and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill dental schools.  He is a past president of the Raleigh Wake County Dental Society, and has continued to serve for over 8 years as president of the North Carolina section of the American College of Prosthodontists.  Through the years he has been a member of various dental study clubs, including the Newport Harbor Academy of Dentistry, and is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American College of Prosthodontists.

Dr. Murrell maintains his long-standing commitment to excellence in dental practice and continuing dental education, has given numerous presentations to various dental groups, and has volunteered additional time as president of several homeowner’s associations.  An Eagle Scout, Dr. Murrell currently gives time as a leader in the Cub Scouts of the Boy Scouts of America.

 

 

 

Ellen Iandolo  -  Patient reception/Business Coordinator

Ellen has been working in the dental profession in both chairside assisting and administrative capacities since 1983.  She possesses a wealth of experience in dental care and procedures.  You will be greeted by Ellen on your initial visit, and she can assist you with any new patient paperwork.

After examination and consultation with Dr. Murrell, Ellen will review the treatment options presented, using demonstration models or computer-based visual educational programs, as may be needed.  She can help set up financial arrangements, schedule any treatment visits in our office or with other dental specialists, and file insurance forms for your direct reimbursement.   Ellen is a friendly and capable professional who enjoys helping patients with their dental needs.
